I've got a tatted Thunder 1 chassis showing up in a week or so. There's no collector value, tubes or expectations of whether it'll pass a signal, so....

What do you want me to do with this piglet? Convert it to run on 6bm8's? Switch it over to some other output tube, like 6bq5's?

It's up to you guys!

I don't know how much of a headache you want to take on and I don't know how much power the transformer would support but the Guild Maverick uses a 6BM8 for reverb (there's a functional design out there) driving with the triode, recovering with the pentode. If you burned one of the 12AX7 sockets for a 6BM8, you'd still have one 12AX7 for input/controls/recovery, and the two triode halves of the 6BM8s ... one for phase inversion and the other for a mixing amp / gain stage at the end of the preamp line.

If you want to stay inside the Guild dotted lines, one of our members put up the schematic for the Guild RC20 / Reverb Converter Here... an external reverb source duped from the GA1RT design; a practice amp and remote reverb. It used alligator clips to import the signal from the dry amp's speaker lugs. Not sure how to do it but an amp that verbed either its own signal or a dry one from someplace ... you'd get a more powerful remote reverb in semi-stereo ... or a stand-alone amp with reverb. It would be nice too if it had attractive breasts ...

I'll get right on ordering a pair of hootmanganies from Mouser!

Will do a little research on this, but it looks like the best idea yet is to pull the trem 12ax7 for another 6bm8 and reverb!

And ... a bonus 8) : you can use the existing strength/depth tremololololo controls for the reverb. The T1-12 schematic looks like it has a slide switch on the faceplate for tremololololo on/off. A man with a drill (who knew what he was doing) could convert that slot to a foot-switch jack.

Couldn't you just modify the enclosure so the backs of the speakers were facing front? You could call it "the Madonna mod". :D

That's the same as the Barbarella mod from 20 years earlier, no?

I forgot about that! Nothing new under the sun!
Might as well toss in a little ejector mechanism which'll spit out leather clothing anytime the music reaches a crescendo.... :D
