The Oxnard-made Guilds seem to have serial numbers that are date coded where the first two digits denote the year. So, in this case "18" denotes 2018.

Elaborate? My memory is shot but are you reminding me that Oxnard serial numbers are Cyyxxxx where the C means Oxnard, California, yy is the last two digits of the year and xxxx is a sequence number used to differentiate instruments made in the same year? I do recall some discussion about what happens if they make 10,000 instruments in one year (Not impossible, Westerly had at least one 25,000 year although New Hartford never reached 5,000) but the single letter C as a prefix is throwing me off.

Thanks.

No, not in one year, it is a running total since they started production in Oxnard, similar to what Martin is doing but adding the year to it.
Currently Oxnard stands at around 7300-7500 in total as the highest serial number I have seen so far was C217271. And yes, beyond 10k another digit would be added I'm sure.
