Hey everyone, just picked up this 6 string acoustic, I think it's a D-25. I can't seem to find anything out about this guitar based on the serial number, and was hoping someone could help me out. I'm curious about the year and value, I want to know if I got a good deal. Thanks. Serial # CPM000151

Ok, I'm going to call in my special talents here.. Your guitar is a D25 with a flat back and mahogany top, it was made in Corona in 2002/3 It has a couple of small marks where the neck meets the head, this was from hanging on a wall for a prolonged time, it has a very thin saddle but it has lots of height left, and the guitar is rich in bass with a really good overall voice...you should enjoy it..(how'd I do?)...Steffan

This one was for sale a few months ago in the $500 range. Not sure what it sold for or if it did sell. I kept the picture because of the unusual finish for a D25. :) 8) Would you call this sea foam? Or was this the "blue" finish option? Not sure.

HI Toni: That one I think is actually an "Aqua" ( I forget if that's the actual name), it appears to have a slight metallic sheen. The Seafoam green was was very pastel, like a "breathmint":

All those unusual colors were available on Strats at the same time and included transparent red, and white, and blue, for a patriotic theme trio.
We also saw an "Amber" one recently.
Personally I think $500.0 for one in VGC is undervalued, I'd give it another $200 at least, for any of those unusual finishes. I think in this case the market doesn't perceive the true beauty of those instruments, especially when set off by the matching headstocks.

Welcome, Kyle. We hope that you enjoy your Guild!

Steffan - if you save all your old strings, and tie them end to end, could you tap into a neighbour's cable?

I don't think that would work....I use those analog strings...they don't do digital.....

This is how a Surf Green D25 looks like. The headstock veneer is in brown however on the one that stationmusic.de has.
It is also a Corona made one:

@Toni: That blue D25 was not a Corona made but a 1982 Westerly made one, probably a custom made one with that color, here is the label of that exact guitar. And it was not in the most perfect condition when it sold:

Don't remember where I heard this,, actually I believe I read it somewhere online that while they where doing the builds in the custom shop at Corona if they had a guitar with minor imperfections they would paint them with whatever color they had available in the custom shop that day. No matter the reason, they sure make a pretty and unique finish on the guitar. The few pictures I've seen on other internet sites have all been with the blue finish. I'd like to see one of the transparent red ones.

I'm not normally a fan of covering up nice wood with paint, but for some reason these solid-colored Guilds have a strange fascination for me. I like the way they look. I don't want one, but I like looking at them. So, blue, seafoam, white and translucent red..... any other colors??

@Tom: Yes, how about a Corona D25 in honey blonde (again available at stationmusic.de):
