Sorry for the delayed post, but look what Santa Treem delivered on Friday ...

... my natural refinished '64 Polara S-100, acquired from Rhinestone Cowboy, who took my invitation and joined our happy ranks. Talk about win-win. My long-stated desire for a three-line Chesterfield logo has been satisfied and then some. Thank you Treem and RC, for making it all possible.

So do I. :D

They say not to use the built-in stand, but I had to at least demonstrate it. And I had to a chance to test it out with the Orange Micro Crush 3 amp I keep at work, and it sounded great, although I couldn't crank it up in fear of making my colleagues jealous (or sending them screaming for the exits ). Can't wait to plug it in at home on the Fender SuperChamp XD.

My Guildness! That is sweet. I particularly like that last photo, the one with the tiny Orange amp. I can picture Polara talking to the amp and saying something along the lines of: "Bow before my vintage greatness/Guildness!" :D :D :D

I very nice present for Christmas indeed:) LTG is the only place in the world where to the question: "What do you want for Christmas?" an LTGer would answer: "A new Guild" :) And you can be sure that that present will surely be meaningful and dear.

All Hail Guild!

Congratulations TF - a beauty indeed. That model has always interested me. In the fullness of time - will you be posting a review on tone, feel, etc in comparison with later S-100s?

Thunder:

As Snooky Prior would say "Too cool to move ..." You've got a retro Santa there.

Thanks, fellas. Actually there's one other person who I should be thanking, because without him, none of this would be possible. It's the guy who was driving over to look at the Polara when I contacted James (aka Rhinestone Cowboy) via e-mail. I never figured that guy would pass on it, but after making an offer that James could -- and did -- refuse, that set the wheels in motion to allow Treem to work his enabling magic, James to accept an invitation to join our happy ranks and me to get the birth year, three-line Chesterfield equipped Polara I have long sought.

So, thanks again to the guy who made the ridiculous offer to James. Your loss is our gain. :D

Hey I owe that guy a thank you as well! I just don't remember his name - forgot it as soon as he walked out! I'm sure he just didn't know what he was looking at.

Thank you low lowballer! I got to know Thunderface and meet Treem as a result and I was introduced to the LTG forum also! I thought I had the price set low enough to not get lowballed but that guy managed to still find a way! Thanks again low lowballer! Worked out well for me!

If my memory serves me, you told me the offer was $750 for the Polara ... and the early production S-50 ... and another vintage Guild you happen to have on hand at the time. Can't believe you turned that one down, but I'm glad you did. :D

That's right! I'm all for good deals but I would have been embarassed to make such an offer! Just about everyone else paid my asking prices because I had cool guitars that I was offering at bargain prices! Which Jim knows, and I think Kent would agree with that too.

Absolutely agree. :)

It's the gift that keeps on giving, actually. I'm likely shipping off the S-60 for exactly my cost plus shipping to a lifelong friend and pro musician in NYC. Pending his approval, this will be his 4th guild and his second S-60. His other one has an after market P-90 and he's never played a guitar with an HB-1.

He's in for a treat, for sure.

Either way, the guitar will be in fantastic hands. Neither of us are flippers, we're players first. And we are both very thankful.

And a belated congratulations to Thunderface who was once my Santa of sorts! That is one cool guitar. I'd love to snag one someday. I guess your Aristocrat fund is running a little low now, eh?
