So, we all know that unfortunately, we need to pay sales tax now on Reverb/Ebay etc. purchases. I wonder if somehow the Governments will get PayPal roped in as well for instruments bought directly via PayPal and not using a selling site. Has anybody heard anything on that??? I guess CL could be a worry too but I don't know how they'd ever police that.

Hi Richard, no I haven't heard anything. Yeah, I don't see how CL could ever be policed that way, but hey... you're welcome to report purchases on your tax return. :) Sorry, don't want to open a Pandora's box here. :D :D Just having fun.

Richard needs a CPA to keep up with his transactions.
How did we get "snookered" into paying repeated tax on selling and buying used items.
My son near Atlanta has bought my last three used trucks and has had to pay "used value taxes" on all three. Don't seem right.

Amen Brother. I can see the 1st tax paid on an item (kinda) but not repeat sales tax payments when that same guitar is resold again and again and again....... Oh well, that's a topic for more intelligent folks than I.

And, unfortunately, it's kind of verboten (political) around here. Let's get together for a brewski and chat about it sometime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Richard, not a problem unless it goes over a cliff. Sadly, this is one subject that I really love to soapbox on (re-taxing that is), but can't do here.

My opinion/reply would probably bring us to the cliff and then some so let me try and restrain myself and just observe that sales taxes are imposed by state and local governments who theoretically spend the funds to support state and local residents.
