No flags on the ends of the ladder. That's just rude.

Few decades ago I teached a young girl the importance of safety belt with one quick lesson.

She had refused to buckle up - I was pissed and tired about it - one fine day we were driving on a street w 30kmh = 20mph ( close enough 😂 ) limit. I asked her if it were ok for me to hit brake pedal anytime w full force = dead stop at low speed. She said "yes" - and the very instant I hit the brake.

She did not get hurt - but most likely pissed into her pants - after that we never needed to discuss the subject anymore.

Consequence. Such a great teacher. That is, if and when we survive. :p

I have had but two great and wise men in my life, when I was young, whose educational curricula consisted of letting me “find out the hard way.” Speculation, theory, philosophy, opinion, arguments, my feelings, etc. all disappear with that rapid gurgling sound, like being flushed down a toilet, irretrievable.

I remember being warned and warned as a boy about coming up rapidly behind the horses in the barn. And then there was that one educational moment...

It is amazing how suddenly my beliefs were altered. Of course, I am very grateful it was a small pony I surprised. As I said at the outset, “if and when we survive."

A few years ago a friend and I were discussing seatbelt use in the grocery store. A cashier overheard us and “I never wear my seatbelt. I was in a wreck once and my seatbelt cracked my ribs.”

Well - there ARE exceptions about not buckling up - and I'm living example.

November 1973 - I was not very experienced car driver - we came from swimming hall w my friend - I was driving Morris Mini wo seatbelts. I lost control on a slippery spot and collided w a lorry+trailor combination. At the moment of collision my car was sideways in front of trucks left corner. Nose of Mini shifted about 2ft to the left and ripped right-side door with it. My friend flew out and broke his arm. Mini then roled over few times and the roof came in about one ft. I had fallen sideways to my friends place w my legs still on my side.

When I came to my senses I thought the car might catch fire - took the keys and crept out - world was dizzy and swaying so I laid on my back in the middle of the street. I somehow knew I should not try to move more - so I just twisted all my joints to check if they're ok.

While laying there - light snowfall - a man w hat bowed over me and asked : Do you think it is time to pray? - I told him it is not - and even if it were I was not going to pray with him. He replied : "You never know!" - later I saw my face in the mirror - I had long hair and it all was covered w blood - I had a relatively small wound on my head - but lots of blood.

Some people came and I asked about my friend - they said he lays over there and complains - I thought : Oh good - he comlains - he is alive. After fairly long wait two ambulances arrived on the scene. They put me on strechers - and while they were carrying me I was turning my head to look around.

The ambulance driver apologized for it taking so long for them - the weather was really horrible and he had to stop to help the other ambulance out of snow.

Next day my friend told me a hilarious story - his father had a collegue who passed that scene - and told him next day at work : " I saw this horrible wreck - Truck laying on it's side - a wreckeded car in close to 30 yard long row of shredded parts - I though they all were dead for sure - but lo and behold - one person on stretcher was moving his head ! " The father told the guy, that the other guy on other stretcher was his son 😂

Few days later I noticed that something is glowing in my chin - there was a square piece of glass nicely imbedded into my skin - I took it off and it left a square hole - put the piece of glass back again and had short discussion with me about having it there and becoming "human puzzle" - then decided it has to go.

Ever since I use seatbelts - no matter how short distance to drive.

And ever since - no matter how fancy car - it is only piece of materials put together.

Drive safely yall 🐾

And the truck driver was unharmed - was riding on a seat w me in ambulance - he was sure we are going to die when he saw what was coming. Every now and then for decades I've ben trying to find out who he was - just to tell him we both came out of it ok.

Confirming that his boots are properly mounted in their bindings?

Or saying a little prayer?

First time I've heard of him . . . apparently he disappeared during that descent.
