S300A-D for sale! w/ pictures

S300A-D for sale. Serial #177789, so it's a 1978. Ash body, maple neck, ebony fretboard, only a few hundred were made as best can be told from the serial numbers. THE GOOD: Solid, structurally great, low fast action, very resonant body, very very nice. THE BAD: The dimarzio SD and PAF pickups are long gone, but easily replaced since there are plenty of old ones out there (maybe a fellow guildie can help) and dimarzio still makes them. The pickups on the guitar now are original model Bill Lawrences which have some value in and of themselves. One sounds great, the other is microphonic as...a microphone. The prior owner of this guitar was a dirty person...I've cleaned it up some, but it was a bit grimey and needs a good cleaning when the pups are replaced. There are some dings in the body which I tried to show in the pics,especially the last two. There's also some cracking in the finish on the body, but hey, it's a 30 year old guitar! Frets are pretty good. For some unknown reason, a prior owner glued a stinking blue jewel on the headstock, which is quite obvious in one pic. It may pop off, or it may leave a little scar..or you may like it, so I'm not messing with it!

There is a rectangular tweed-style hard case. It is not an exact fit, so when shipped I'll have it padded under the neck and between the body and the storage compartment of the case, so there won't be any headstock shock.

Besides the pickups and the jewel, everything appears original. Everything works great except the one pickup. The knobs are the "barrel" style insead of the more common "hat" style, but I have seen them on a number of pics of other S-300's and same period Guilds, so I think they are also original. I'm not too sure how much it should sell for, definitely not as nice as the black one for sale here, but also rarer since it is ash. If you want more pics or have any questions, feel free to mail me. No questions? No interest? Come on, everybody! You'll note that the price is not fixed...if it's too much, make an offer...or for $800 maybe I'l throw in a Guild amp (although it will increase the shipping!)

Maybe you can get someone to do Peter Max style op at on it. And who needs those Dimarzios anyway! How nice it would sound with a Duncan jazz pickup...Or you can play it w/o an amp in the bedroom, it's really resonant and sounds great unplugged, and once you go to sleep you'll have a handy baseball bat to fend off burglars or other ne'er do wells!

It's either offers of 10 cents on the dollar, or offers with no follow through, or winning bidders on fleabay who won't pay...

Of course, and I certainly can't begrudge anyone looking for a good deal...but given the interest in S-300's I figured I'd at least get a lowball offer or a comment about the filthy person who owned it before me. Maybe the S-300 is just to big and strong a slab of electric wood for the rapidly aging denizens of ltg...

I've only got one more to sell after the S-300, and that's my gorgeous CR-01 crossroads...only 97 made (if you believe serial numbers), lightweight, electric and acoustic all in one...

The dirt on the pickups! The generic tweed case! Make jokes where you use "ash" instead of "ass," like "it really kicks ash!"

I'm not really ignoring you. I don't play guitar and Mrs. Fro is freaked out by playing an acoustic with a pickup so there is no need for me to own any electric guitar.
