Looks like a bluesbird headstock and tailpiece, and a 12 string TRC. Also, not nearly enough knobs and switches for an S-100!

It's like the Squier version with a master volume/master tone.

Has this been posted before? S100 prototype? Really?

It would be interesting to know the complete story. But it is certainly plausible that Fender asked several factories to make an S100 "to spec." before they chose a site in Korea to make the Newark Street series. This was not a winning entry ;-)

Very interesting. Made in Indonesia. It looks somewhat retarded to me, glad they didn't pursue it.

What do you guys think of this rare Long scale JS2 ? The heel looks strange and why is there two serial numbers on the label ?

Might be useful to continue the discussion elsewhere but I'm not going to move it yet :)

I don't see any label nor evidence of two serial numbers. Are you seeing something I am not?

Shape of the heel doesn't bother me but it does look as if the neck and body were finished separately and then joined. I am also reminded of some attempts to do a sunburst on a solid body because the back of the neck is lighter between the headstock and the joint.

The bottom # is the date September 27, 1972!

top # is serial # (matches 1972...)

Thank you. I could have sworn I clicked through all the pictures but apparently not.

Calling the second number a date seems like as good an explanation as any. I could argue it is not the same handwriting which leads to the question of who did put it there. Seller? Original owner?

Hasn't Hans mentioned they were writing the dates on the labels for a period of time, or am I mis-remembering?

That "Guild prototype" can't be from Indonesia. It's made in China. On first look it didn't look like anything Fender would have authorised in 2014.
The knobs are at total different places, locking tuners, and just look at that TRC, why does it read "by Guild"?? That feature was only used at the DeArmond guitars to show it was authorized by Guild, so why would a "real" Guild have it?

Now the interesting thing is the inspection hang tag! Because it is the same style which the GAD and Westerly Collection guitars have!
It has "GR" written around the edge which seems to stand for Grand Reward Education & Entertainment (GREE) in Hui Yang city. So if that is the real hangtag that guitar comes from the very same Chinese factory where the GAD and Westerly Collection guitars come from...
That would mean maybe FMIC had asked GREE to offer electric models as well but finally the decission was made to use Korea for the Newark St. models. So the "prototype" story could be real.
