Seemed like all the interviews I've read of the cast members from 'The Andy Griffith Show' all say they were grateful to be part of the show and all seemed genuinely happy to have been given the opportunity to play those parts,George Lindsay included. On the other hand I can think of several actors from 'The Beverly Hillbilly's' and 'Gilligans Island' who have done nothing but complain about their roles in those shows.
I was a big fan of the Andy Griffith Show, with characters like Ernest T. Bass, and Floyd the barber, Otis the town drunk, and the inimitable Barney Fife.
My Dad was a policeman when I was growing up and there was a regular 'Barney Fife' type on the police force while he was there. Everyone joked around that he had only one bullet, just like Barney!!
