Just home from work and finished reading a news report concerning the Arizona firefighters.

God rest their poor souls; this kind of thing is just too awful. I'm so sorry America.

My heart and prayers go out to the families of those that have been lost. As an active volunteer bush fire fighter, my family and I know the risks and are reminded of the danger we faced back in January this year when our own village was evacuated and under direct attack by fire storm.

To those still facing the same fears our hope is with you and our faith is in the abilities of those who are trained to protect you.

I woke up to this awful news on the radio this morning. This is the most wildland firefighters lost at one time since the 1930's. Having been through the latest version of the annual safety training just about a month ago, safe areas and escape routes are always on everyone's minds. These 'Hotshot' guys are several notches above the average Type II crew, so for them to get overtaken goes to show how rapidly conditions can change. Those aluminized shelters are the best produced so far, but even under the best conditions you may come out with severe burns. Tragic, terrible. Please remember these families in your thoughts and prayers.

It's so easy to forget that these guys put their life on the line to do their job, and to help others - until something like this happens. Terrible news...

So sad. They were so young, too. Jesus taught there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends, I hope their families will be able to take some comfort in these words as they mourn their loved ones.
