Wow, this one really hits close to the bone.
And Jeff Beck just a week before.
But Crosby, man, he was my fave voice of CSN.
His song Laughing is genius, sheer...all his friends playing and singing on it too...

Jerry on steel guitar....

Ditto. Like "Blows Against the Empire", everyone was at Wally Heider's for that!

Oh, man.

Didn't know, but strangely around 4 pm today I had an overwhelming desire to hear him, so I played the Thousand Roads and For Free albums back-to-back on my office music system.

He played with The Buffalo Springfield at Monterrey Pop in '67, which was one of the things that got him fired from The Byrds:

Stuff like that happens to me sometimes. A person will pop into my head and then BOOM! I hear they've passed.

"Triad" and "Guinevere" -- these two songs sum up Crosby's gift as a musician in my opinion.
Crosby wasn't as prolific as some of his contemporaries, but he sure produced some amazing songs. "Triad" in particular is killer. I wish The Byrds had recorded it. "Everybody's Been Burned" is another great one.

Oh that's sad. One of my favorite artists.

+1 on "If Only I Could Remember My Name". I would also add Crosby/Nash's "Wind on the Water" album to my list of albums I can listen to any time.

In all seriousness, it's amazing he made it to 81.
