I'm investigating rewire kits ( assembled if possible ) for my X500 '62 . Mojo produce assembled kits , but there's no photos of the kits for large body archtops ; http://www.mojotone.com/guitar-parts/Guitar-wiring-Kits . The Joe Pass would probably be the go , and I've emailed for details. There're a few options of vol/cap available.
Have any of you guys bought ready assembled kits or parts only kits and have any advice/recommendations for me please ? Stewmac produce kits , but the pots are budget ( ? ) http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... _kits.html and the wires are insufficient for large bodies ( needs more wire to be purchased )
and I rather like those sold separately CTS units ; http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... _Pots.html

I don't have an answer for you, but the "Truss Rod Cover police" noticed that the TRC on your avatar picture is upside down!   You need to fix that ASAP !!!

Yeah, I didn't think that their pre-assembled units would work. It looks like you can order ala carte and make your own.

Well , it pays to check when there's no photo or parts list , and the price is a couple of pots short
of an ES175 kit ..............

The Mojotone Joe Pass kit is for a single pickup Gibson L4 style ; not the Epiphone two bucker Korean job.
The L4 Gibson kit is for the X500 or any of the other Guilds in that ilk ( no master vol type ) of dimensions .

If you have a good wiring diagram, and you can solder, it's not that hard to make your own. The hard thing that requires a lot of patience is getting it in the guitar!!

Jahn had posted a great picture how he solved the issue by using lots and lots of Top Fin Airline Tubing (as used in aquariums).
But I agree, it is still hard work!!! And easy to break a solder joint...

That's a nightmare of life-support tubing , and for a guy who's truss rod cover is upside down too !
I'd remove the pickups aswell , since the f holes are too small . Thanks for the frightening photograph.

 Yes, I just did it using that method. I was glad Jahn had posted the picture, so I knew basically how he did it. The worst is the long and thin groundwire that goes through the body to the tailpiece, the hole in the solid block is just as wide as the wire, so it's hard to get it back in place. On my Starfire IV (like on Jahn's SF VI in the picture) the middle of the guitar has a solid block, so there is no open connection to the pickup cavities. That makes it so extremely difficult compared to a fully hollow guitar. All has to go through the tiny f-holes.

I have installed pre wired kits from RS Guitarworks in my strat and telecaster. They have both been amazing improvements for tone, clarity, and usefulness of the controls. They make pre wired kits for the Gibson 335 that may be worth checking out. Dave

I did not know them, thanks for pointing to them, they have lot of parts. But the ES335 kits would not fit in a X500, so the whole idea of using a prewired kit is useless, since you still need to re-wire them with the correct wire length:
