Side-Bar:

I replaced the "Mini-Humbuckers" in a Les Paul Deluxe Re-Issue with Harmonic Design VP-90s. This also was a "drop-in" swap requiring no new holes or routing because the original Deluxes had originally been factory routed for soap bar P-90s but were modified to accept the Mini-Humbuckers by using hogged-out soap-bar covers as pick up surrounds.

Harmonic Design makes nice pickups.

Robertking,

A bit off topic, but...

How would you describe the neck profile of your Corona-built Starfire: thick? medium? thin?

(A ball-park, front-to-back measurement at the nut would be really helpful (if it's not too much trouble).

Thanks.

Hi,
I just got my first Guild Starfire IV from the early 00's. I really like the guitar and it is in great shape but I would like to change the pickups.
After reading through the forum it sounds like these Corona-made Starfires have Fender-designed HB-1 pickups.
Any recommendations on replacement pickups?
I like to play mostly Soul and Motown.
Thanks in advance!
I also have a 2000 Starfire 4 that had the Fender HB1 pickups. I sent my pickups to Curtis Novack and had them re-wound. They sound terrific and they retain the famous Guild "hump" we all love!

To what specification did you have them re-wound? (I.e. what did you change?)

I had mine rewound and asked for PAFish build. The guy who did mine complained that the covers wouldn’t allow him to use his standard bobbins so he literally had to rewind the existing bobbins.
