Hi there, Guild-Lovers:

Here at www.myspace.com/sgarveymusic

I'm currently working on a CD of songs by 70's era singer-songwriters and have the first 5 preliminary tracks up to listen to. The F50R (also pictured with me on the site) was recorded straight into my DAW with the K&K Trinity Western I installed. There's tunes by Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Chuck Brodsky and James Taylor.

Speaking of James Taylor, there's also a video of his younger brother Livingston and myself on there singing a duet Liv and James did together about 20 years ago called "City Lights." I'm singing James' part. But there's a bit of a Guild story there...

When Livingston was here with me to do the show, he came into my office which has my F50R proudly displayed in the corner on its stand. Liv walked in, immediately went to it, sat on my couch and started playing. All of a sudden, all of this "Taylor Magic" started coming out of my Guild. It was truly incredible to sit there and watch him play. He finished, put it down and said "That's a really nice guitar." I believe Livingston used to play a Guild back in the 70's or 80's...there's pictures of him with one, and there's an old YouTube video of he and James playing together on The Vineyard back in the 80's and Liv's definitely playing a Guild - I'm not clear which model. He now plays a Taylor 914 (?) Dred with a 12-string neck he had Taylor install for him. Its a beauty, but I'll keep my F50R.

I hope you enjoy the songs!

Peace,
Shawn

That is real beautiful stuff there Shawn.

You voice is a pleasure to listen to and the guitar work flawless.

Best of luck with the CD, let us know here when it's out and where it's available please.

Thank you so much, Graham - I'm humbled by your comments; truly.

I'll be happy to post more as they "arrive." My hope is that in a couple of months, when Livingston comes back to be with us again, he and I will actually record something together for the project. I'm naming the CD after a song of his, "Good Friends," as the songs I'm doing have been good friends to me over the decades, and its my favorite song of Liv's. He says he's up for helping me out, so let's keep fingers crossed!

Peace to you today -
Shawn :)

:D Reminds me of the movie "Stripes" when the General asks Bill Murray "Where have you boys been?" and he responds in inimitable Murray fashion: "TRYING, Sir." :) :D

I've seen Livingston's dad perform a couple of times, the playing style a voice similarity are remarkable. Your stuff ain't bad either.....welcome to Let's Talk Guild.

Thank you all for your kind and generous comments.

I've been lurking here for a while, but with two new kids over the past 4 years, moving churches, trying to get more music mixed in with my life and my vocation, I often don't get on here as often as I would like.

I promise to be more diligent!

Peace,
Shawn
