Hi everyone.

I joined not too long ago asking about recommendations for USA made guilds. I got a lot of D-25, D-15, and D-4.

I'm now actively looking for one of those or other offerings (dreadnought) that have Cutaways.

In my search, a member sent me a link to a D-25C (cutaway) and D-15. I was a bit indecisive and it shortly got bought up.

Now I know what I'm looking for. A Guild Cutaway. Something I can leave in Drop D and will sound great in that low range. I'm not so familiar with the westerly collection but I hear they're great guitars for being produced outside the US.

Looking for recommendation and leads on Guild Dreads with a Cutaway. I like to play high up on the neck and something about it feels right in a dedicated rock guitar (I sort of play like an electric player).

Thanks for all the help so far!

I should add I'm trying to stay under $1000 but the closer to $500 the better.

IIRC member @Guildedagain has a DCE-5 up for sale currently.

I’d try to find an American made first but for $500-600 used there are the D140CE and D120CE from the Westerly series (Made in China).

Plus one for DCE5. Mine is a cannon and is very dynamic. Prices on these DC's are almost always reasonable it seems.

Prices on D5CE or DCE5 aren't reasonable, they border on stupid. A guitar this high grade for $600 is such an anomaly that they don't sell.

Raise the prices by a grand and see renewed interest.

Looks like it could be a nice one, but more pix are needed. Luckily I have one, so I'm immune to the enabling. :)

Or get a True American ;)

I think that's a DCE-1. Yeah, they slapped those True American TRCs on several models during this timeframe.

The True Americans were simply a TRC and a marketing campaign more than anything else. The DCE's were the first "True Americans", '92 catalog:

Eventually seen on the 16" F-body ce's and even plain old instruments, '97 catalog:

My '96 D25 has one.

I think they had a surfeit of TRC's and just used 'em up at the end, seriously. Don't recall seeing one on anything later than a '99. When DCE-3 came out it wasn't touted as a "TA", '99 catalog:

I don't disagree. Such tremendous value for the dollar. The cutaway is a non issue here as everyone I've owned or played ( both DCE5 and DCE3 ) has more than enough volume. You can't go wrong with either. My DCE3 ( gone now ) and my DCE5 weigh about 500 lbs. each and still deliver tone / projection.

I had a DCE-1 I liked and ran me about $600 if I recall correctly.

There is at least one on Reverb. And there is one here in Wilmington NC on Facebook marketplace
