So in the mid-nineties Tony Dow and his wife came into my shop. Actors had come into my mother's antique shop back in the '60s and as my shop is in San Diego county
I would get fewer "Hollywood" types but occasionally I would get someone like Whoopi Goldberg. So I always would "play it cool" and pretend I didn't recognize them.
He asked me about some of the antique clocks and for one American time clock he wondered about the accuracy of that particular timepiece. As he was walking away to look at some other clocks I said "Well, as it is an American clock so you could expect something like 2 or 3 minutes off after a week--but it's not like they would have been worried about missing the Brady Bunch or Leave it to Beaver!". Tony stopped dead and hunched his shoulders--his wife burst out laughing and he slowly turned red faced to look at me.
I said I of course recognized him and asked if he had heard anything lately from Norman Tokar (the director of the early episodes and a customer of my mother's shop and mine)?
He replied that Norman was had passed away. I said "What--you never have seances?" at which point his wife started laughing again. I explained that Norman had been a customer for years but I hadn't seen him for awhile. He told me that Tokar willed him an extensive leather bound scrapbook of photos and other ephemera from the series.
I told him that if he wanted to see some more antiques he should go to my friend's shop down the street as he was a huge Leave it to Beaver fan and Jerry Mathers often would go to his shop. "Do you think your friend would have Jerry's phone number or address? He owes me some money!". Periodically I would see stories about his Corvair or his sculpture on the news. I think he was probably one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met.

The local radio station played a great interchange between Wally and Ward this morning.
Wally- I have to go help Eddy with his chemistry.
Ward-I didn’t think you were that good with chemistry.
Wally-That’s okay, you don’t have to be that good to help Eddy.
