Mick,

Well it sounds like you;re a man of taste and discrimination and know what you want (except for the Philadelphia part)!

To be honest, I thinks he's doing pretty good offering you that sort of money for the Gibson that you didnt buy from him, but as others have stated, he has the money in the Guild. Question is: Can you but another F50R for 1500 bucks ? Whats chazmo asking for his ? Will Chaz take a trade ?

Cheers, Ian

Yeah, I think it's been about 40 years now...
Hey hey hey....! How are ya, Frosty!? Great to hear from you.

Mick, once again, good luck in the hunt. I think patience is a virtue right now, but I'm not going to say you're getting a raw deal on the trade-in. I think trading the Gibby in and unloading it quick is a big factor, and if you think you're getting good coin on that (better than you could get selling it outright), you have to factor that into the inflated price.

Oh, and Ian, no... I'm waiting on an incoming F-212XL from New Hartford, and I would kinda' like to make room. It sure seems like a buyer's market right now, though, on the high-end stuff like the F-50R... I'm wishing Mick good luck in the hunt.

Hi Chaz,

Yeah people keep telling me that, but to be honest I'm not seeing it. I've paid the asking, and am happy with the results knowing also that I'm not taking advantage of the seller, just honest to goodness straight honest deals know what I mean ? But theres none of my Guilds have been screaming bargains.....

Cheers, Ian

Thank you all for the advice. I played her again for a couple of hours this evening; even had the dealer throw two different sets of strings on her (I paid for the strings). It was strung with D'Addario 11s, had him put on Bronze Martin SP 12s, then Phosphor Bronze Martin SP 12s. The last is the way I'd take it. I told him I wanted it and I'd stop by Wednesday to leave some coin on it.

However, after having gotten home and checking my bank account, I realized I'm keeping my Gibson. Mind you I like this guitar so this is not a hardship. I still want the F50R, but will be an adult about it and wait till I have the cash to wheel and deal and buy one outright. This also gives me more time to travel around and check out D50s as well.

I do love this axe though, and once again thank everyone for their advice. An F50R is on my short list, actually, until I play a D50 or D55, the F50R is the only guitar on my list. Meanwhile it's the Gibson here in the states and the D15 in Israel.

cheers
