In a quiet location, the Petersen iStroboSoft works very well. When I need a clip on, I like the TC electronics Polytune.

That's sexy. Might have to try one just because I like the way it looks. $45 on Amazon, though to be fair it does include polyphonic tuning and looks damn sexy. There's nothing sexier than sexy multi-colored polyphony.

I didn't even read the manual to see how to set it in Strobe mode, until last night ! The two features I like is that it auto flips the display, depending on how you hold it and it is bright. I think the strobe tune is more accurate. The polyphonic is cool , but I think guitars with lots of overtones can confuse it.
