Someone offer me a Guild X150D (the guy told it's an XD-150?) in a trade of a Martin D28 that I did not play really often. I surf google to find the value of the Guild. For what I saw I can set the value around 1200$. Am I right?? I already have a Gretsch 6120W-1957 (Dynas and P90) and the Guild will fit the bill for humbucker style guitar. How the X150 compare to a Gretsch with Filtertron? Am I losing to much on trading the Martin D28? :?: :?: :?:

Re: Question about a X-!50D

Hello Bigou -

With guitars the value is usually based on name, age and condition. Could you let us know the age and condition of the X-150D and the D28? It would help evaluate the relative values of the two.

Sorry for the incomplete post.

The X150D is from 1997 (Westerly) with the case and the seller told me that the condition is Excellent.
My Martin is a 2003 with a Fishman matrix. Couple of surface scratches but that's all. Originale case as well.

With the two guitars as you describe them the cash value of the Martin would probably be between $300 to $500 more than the Guild.

My only experience with filtertrons is in a early 60's Tennessean and I like them, but I personally prefer the Guild humbuckers if I had to have only one guitar. I think they're a bit more versatile. The two really don't sound much alike. If I had to describe it I'd say the filtertrons sound more like single coils than humbuckers. But that's only personal opinion based on limited input.

I'm sure others out there will have more information to help you decide.

I'm certainly for everone owning a Guild, but you may want to look into striking a better deal.

Than again, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Good luck,

FWIW, I agree, the Martin is worth a little more than the Guild.

Very profound, mickj. I agree - the Martin is worth more, but desire for certain models is strong.

I acquired this just a week ago, because the chance came up, and and I've wanted one since I was a kid. That doesn't mean I'm changing my handle to "Gretschmark", though. :D
