Some of you know that I work for a software company that is embedded in the music business. We don't build instruments; we provide data to the rest of the music "ecosystem."
Anyway, I have had some ridiculously talented colleagues over the years and a couple of these folks have left my company and created "Groove Synthesis" where they just introduced a new synthesizer at NAMM. This thing blows my mind in its capabilities, and thought I'd share it with you. I'm very proud of them for getting out on their own and doing their thing.
Below are two of my former work colleagues presenting their handiwork at NAMM this year, and the link at the bottom is to their website for the company formed around this thing. It's just awesome if you ask me. Back in the day, I spent a lot of time working with a Roland D-50 synth, and this Groove beastie is like from another world. My, things have come a very long way since then.
This is Andrew giving a brief presentation:
This is Bob doing a lot more in-depth:
Here's the website where there are many, many sound samples and it's just amazing. Ironically, I tried to get a job with Kurzweil music instruments about 25 years ago, and had that worked out my life would've changed... These guys are doing it now. Jealous? Yeah, maybe a bit (or a little more than a bit).
