Haha, is that cilantro flavored popcorn?
Sorry to sound like an old curmudgeon, but this pandemic has given me a lot of time to reflect on what is important and what really is not.
Where does posting in internet guitar forums fall on that continuum?
(I'm sorry...I couldn't resist. I'm really done now.)
Sports are not the culprit, it's called "capitalism", and for the record, I'm NOT an anti-capitalist, but just making an "apolitical" statement here:I just think our priorities are askew, and pro sports are a prime example of this paradox.
Maybe if I wore spandex delivering the mail?
Would like to hear some of those stories. Sounds like you were a really good coach.I was a head coached at a large high school for 33 of the 40 years I taught school. Somewhere along the late 80s, many athletes thought they were "entitled."
It starts with little league and Jr. Pro coaches and continues through into the pro ranks. Coaches discipline average players and give superior players a "second" chance because "they deserve a second chance." Bunch of bull. Even at the youngest level of competition, the almighty "win" takes precedence. I am gonna stop because I could lecture on this subject at the graduate level. Many coaches scared to "Coach" a good player because afraid the good player will quit. Simple - everybody touches the lines, works hard, respect teammates and opponents and be on time. After we can do that, we will learn the fundamentals of the game.
I got dozens and dozens of great stories.
Then I think I'd risk a flight for the photo opMaybe if I wore spandex delivering the mail?
Don't fear the veer!Stories are real and been a life time developing -- way too long. Too much of a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr!

Problem is no one is interested enough to pay for the right to watch a plumber unclog a toilet
Mike Trout got a $426,000,000 dollar contract. Almost half a billion dollars. Absurd. But that isn't what has turned me off to pro sports...it's the politics, taking a knee, BLM banners and other such nonsense. The plandemic has indeed given me plenty of time to reflect on more important things...like practicing guitar. The MLB, NFL and NBA are going to have a hard time paying all those outrageous salaries with so many former fans tuning out.Sorry to sound like an old curmudgeon, but this pandemic has given me a lot of time to reflect on what is important and what really is not.
....BLM banners and other such nonsense.....
Pro sports are dead to me. I don't follow 'em, I don't watch 'em, I don't care any more.
Why is it that our cops, teachers, pastors, servicemen and women, etc. have to struggle to make ends meet while we play men multi-millions of dollars per year to play with a ball, and call them heroes? That is really screwed up if you think about it...
