I have a problem with my case for my F-30. The seal on the case, in the lower bout area, has been a problem. It has been since I got the guitar about a year ago, but now the problem is more evident. I go through a replacement pack for the Humidipak in one month when they're suppose to last for 3-5 months. I had some trouble last winter keeping the guitar humidified. When a friend looked at it, she said "it's warped."

Has anyone had a problem like this? I saw on ebay that they sell latches, but I don't know how to do something like that, and it would require cutting through the padding, which doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I haven't had the problem, my TKL case is just super. I'd contact TKL, I'm quite sure their cases come with a limited lifetime warranty. Even if it isn't covered they should know about the problem and they may be able to direct you to a repair center. joan

I got a response from TKL and they're willing to have me send the case back to them, as they do have limited lifetime guarantees. But that leaves my guitar without a case, and I never keep my guitar out when I'm not playing. Any ideas?

Just make sure the space you're keeping it in is properly humidified and that you don't keep the guitar on a potentially reactive surface.

Buy a cheapo stand in the meantime if you can.

That's a problem. I live in a small apt, and though I have a guitar stand, I also have a cat. Leaving the guitar on the stand for any length also reacts with the nitro finish. The only place I can think to put it is in the closet with an oasis humidifier in the soundhole, though I don't know if that would do any good. I also have no of controlling humidity. I could us the vaporizer to put some moisture in the air, and given the guitar would be in the closet, it wouldn't be directly exposed. I don't know if the Oasis would do any good given that it's not in a case???

Do you have any sort of a relationship with a local shop? Perhaps they would have an old/used pasteboard or hardshell case you might borrow for a couple weeks (offer a small deposit or rental fee when you ask?). If that doesn't pan.... ask if they have an old shipping box. I bet with some duct tape and blankets/pillows for padding, you could fashion a "case" that would protect your guitar from cats, help keep it humidified, and not be TOO awkward in terms of access. Good luck!

Good ideas. You could also try a sleeping bag if you've got one. They're designed to keep cold and moisture out so maybe they'd keep moisture in as well as insulate. Another idea is to call Goodwill and other thrift shops, if they've got a case it won't cost much and when you get yours back you can donate it back to them. I've got a couple extra cases but you're too far away and shipping one back and forth just wouldn't make sense. Good luck and keep us posted. joan
