It's snowing at sea level right now but the big news is up the road.
My son-in-law works at the ski area and they've picked up 60 inches in the past 5 days!

It's been straight rain down here until today!

Love it or leave it, 8)

Here's a photo my daughter sent from her phone while skiing in the mountains today.

The snow is very deep up there, my friends!

Spring is on it's way, a fella living in the lowlands might consider building an arc.

Mother Nature is welcome to pile all the snow up in the high mountains, I've had enough of it here at 140 ft elev. Weather here has been moderate all things considered but we've hauled about 30,000 pounds of storm damage debris out of our developments 25 common acres. Damage from the ice storm a month ago. We're not even half finished, multiple dozens of trees down & thousands of pounds of huge branches from mature conifers clogging retention ponds, greenbelts & trails, crushing fences, dozens of widow makers still hanging in the canopy. My neighbor lost a nice old Volvo to his 80 yr old Douglas Fir, ice caused a huge branch to fall vertically, heavy end first, punched right thru the Volvo's roof. Volvo was minding it's own business, just sitting in the driveway & was killed instantly by a single big branch from a fir tree. Tree guys are having a field day, it's heartbraking to see 75, 80 yr old + Oregon Oaks damaged so badly they have to be taken down.

Thurston County has not been charging to dump the storm damage. (green waste) all the month of Feb, but I hear some FEMA money the politicos were counting on didn't happen & it may bankrupt the county.

Presently no snow down here & that's OK with me. Snow up high will come in handy later on this Summer, watering crops, electricity & all.
Not too much CO2 coming out of this plant, aye.

I'm with you on the snow, Jeff. I like to know that there's plenty of it up the road just in case I need it, but let's keep it in the mountains.

Best to you and your neighbors on the cleanup effort,
Joe

Joe,

Do you think it wise that your daughter is texting while skiing? What a beautiful photo!

ON the other hand, here in my backyard just inside and in the lee of those Coast Range mountains, it's not quite spring:

not enough snow this year to build a decent snowpack - the ranges will be dry, creeks and rivers low (again) in 2012.
