Hello cdiaz,

Your Guild Starfire 4 with serial # AG001549 is from the year 2000. According to what I have on file, it should be a blonde finished guitar with a flame maple body, a 3-pc. mahogany w. maple centerstrip neck and 2 Fender-designed humbucking pickups.

Hope you will enjoy the guitar!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Bummer. The eBay seller told me they were Sd1's. Not the fender hb1's. Thanks

Well, he might have been relying on Fender/Guild literature, which is not always very clear about the specs of the various models. On the other hand, with the Fender designed humbuckers, you will have the advantage of the 'Standard Gibson-size' mounting rings, that will accept the majority of aftermarket pickups available these days.

Hello cdiaz,

You're not asking the right person, because I'm not a big fan of humbucking-type pickups to begin with, but there are probably several members on this forum, who would love to share what they think of the Fender-designed humbuckers.

I would like to add that this pickup has solder tabs on the back of the pickup, which makes it simple to add a coil tap or install somethink like a parallel/series switch.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Fender HB1s are not my favorite pickup (I'm being nice - ask around) :)

A Guild Starfire is such a good guitar though, that if the price is right, I'd buy it anyway. I have a 2000 Starfire that came with Fender HB1s. I had them re-wound because I love the HB1 covers. The covers would not fit over other bobbins.
