Ahem...

I actually was a firefighter, having retired as a Deputy Chief in September of '08 after 33 years of service. In one of those fits of depression you go through because "my life is over," I decided to move out the 50 or so helmets and hundreds of toy fire trucks I have acquired from all over (mostly US and Europe) as it just wasn't me any more. Interestingly, those helmets seem to be the roadblock to acquiring more guitars. Time to move on to other hobbys...

As to Fireman Bill or whatever, my full time job was head of Fire Prevention and Investigation for twenty years. I fear that the SNL skits never amused me and probably set back our efforts terrribly. Talk to the person who burned his child with illegal fireworks or the family who just gutted their living room on Christmas due to unattended candles and you'll get my gist. No offense taken FNG, just my observation...

Its interesting Joe that you have found a new F50R. Haven't seen a one around here since I started seriously looking last summer...coulda been talked into one of those over my D55 for the Dave Van Ronk connection probably...as expensive as it is, thats probably a good price, as I think they list over $3200. Based on the tuners, thats a NH right?

Sandy, been through the situation with your friend a couple times over the past recent history, once unexpected as yours and once unfortunately expected (except by his family). Its hard, but you'll slog through it. Try to learn some lessons (and no, buying more guitars is not the lesson  ) and just think good thoughts about him often. When you meet again, he'll say thanks for remembering him so much.

Thats nice Bill. we've got a good group of folks here. :D My best wishes for you too Sandy...I really believe that all we get to keep are our memories, so I am trying to create experiences that generate good ones. I have a great fondness for many here who have acted as friends, though we haven't met......yet......of course it may be that same people are just coveting my 2 jumbos etc...  but I don't think so. Bill,

There's a guy over in the Fender Forum who thinks you can live on just Snickers bars. Get the 512 and give them a try until the boss calms down!

Dog,

Do you get any kind of weird feeling out your way since Tacoma was closed down? We haven't talked about that at all here on LTG, but I don't think we have any ex-Tacoma employees on board. I always found that a little odd.

Anyway, I have no doubt they'll start getting out your way soon. The question is whether your dealers out there keep the faith.

I get weird feelings in Tacoma all the time, but I just figured it was the trickle-down from Seattle. However, it was cool, while it lasted, to have Tacoma and Guild guitars being built right here in T-town. Nice to see from a later post that some of the new Guilds are in Bellingham, I'm not too confident that any of the shops in the South Sound will carry them. My local music store is stocking up on Gibson, Taylor, Epi, Yamaha, Takamine and Ibanez.

Good things come to he who waits...if we can live long enough! As far as "poking the bear", I'm reminded of Robert Duvall's little gem in "Lonesome Dove": "A man who wouldn't cheat for a poke must not want one bad enough"...
With sincere best wishes for a great weekend for BOTH of you!

Stopped by today and Mojo Music has dropped the price to 2,599.
Played it for a while and as I said before, I wasn't exactly blown away.
There were two GADs in the store as well, and I was told that they have new Guilds on the way....soon to arrive. :D
