Just bought a Guild Pilot and it came with EMG looking pickups but no battery inside.
Did they ever make one without active EMGs. Serial # is BE104215

It seems this is a 1992 model.
I have two 1990 model with active EMGs.
I have one 1993 model with active EMGs.
You're a little confusing here Frono. I have the #20th Pilot built and I'm pretty sure it's active, (has a battery). And yes there were later "active" Pilots that had Bartolini pick-ups in them but there are also later, (non-pickguard) Pilots that have passive DiMarzio's in them. That would be the SB-600, (My gigging bass).fronobulax said:Yes. Kurt, the resident Pilot expert will fill in the details but the earliest Pilots were passive and some of the later active Pilots used PUs that weren't EMGs.
From the chart on the Guild site I would concur with the 1992 date.fronobulax said:Looking at the serial number lists there are either typos in the list or a typo in the serial number you gave.
