No pics, but I took the pickgaurd off of every archtop I've ever had, including a SFII, T100, X-50 - well, all the Guild archtops on my signature! I felt they were in my way, I have realtively big hands, and have my right hand pinky hanging down when I play. Except for the holes, no issues. I usually kept the top pickguard screw in without the guard, ala John Lennon. But not one on the side of the body.
However, weirdly, I find my '58 ES-225T to be comforatble with the guard on, so I have not removed it. I don't know why, perhaps because the height is a little different, but it's not really much.
My short answer is "No problems!" - assuming you don't mind the "look" of the holes.
