I have a pretty clear recollection of watching MTV in the '80s and noticing Peter playing a Nightbird in a Monkees video of a live performance.

Hmmmmmm.....never seen anything like that yet.
Would have to be post '85 as that's when Gruhn first designed the prototype.
Admittedly he's played his fair share of exotic Guilds over the years.

They had a falling out with MTV in ‘87, so ‘86 was the only year he could’ve played a Nightbird. Aside from the FS20ce, during that year’s 20th anniversary tour, he also played one of the pointy headstock Guild solidbodies. Check with GAD for the model, but you can see it in some of the pics on this page about the tour, and in the videos.
