I just went there. The first picture in the rotation were something from the Applause line , there very lowest end and they were dayglow colors and no longer round back made. Personally , in my view, the Applause line did the brand more harm than good and should have been ditched long, long ago. Now, it looks like a toy traditional guitar. Looking further, they only offer the Applause, the Celebrity, which was the step up from the Applause, and then a "Pro Series" that goes from MSRP of $799 up to the $1149 MSRP Legend. I'm sure street price is less than a grand. That's kinda' sad. Please don't let Guild change the name of the Westerly Series to Pro Series. The price point range is about the same. Then you have to jump to the $4000 range for an Adamas.

I guess I'm glad the brand isn't long gone, but It seems to only be playing in the low end segment of the market and high end.

They do have the Adamas, msrp $4199. Seems nothing between $799 & $1499, unless I missed it.

Thanks I haven't looked at it for a while. I agree that the Asia built models are not inspiring but it is good that GEWA kept the New Hartford workshop for boutique level Adamas. On FB they reported that they had NAMM booth with two new US built Custom Legend and Elite models with nice looking pictures. However no details or specs were made available.

"they had NAMM booth with two new US built Custom Legend and Elite models with nice looking pictures."

That's hopeful. As long as the price isn't custom shop level.

Someone had mentioned a price in the 2000s so might fill the gap between Asia and Adamas.

It's certainly telling that Ovation is featuring the product line that makes the fans cringe, but it may just be a plug for the cheaper instruments... I mean, they're still making the same products as before in New Hartford and China, right John? Have they cut production on the bowl-backs? Just don't worry too much about their advertising on their web-site; just look at actual production.

Just to recap, a few years ago there was some serious sticker shock on new Guilds. The good news is that the Asian-built Guilds of the time were seriously carrying the ball for Guild. I'm not going to say things ever came back with a vengeance, but Guild is still around making a very wide range of guitars. I hope Ovation's owner can make that work too.

Nice that they are trying to get a full line of production going again. Between, you and me, and I'm an Ovation player, that lead in sound really wasn't very good. Very piezo sounding and thin. You need a high impedence input on a pedal or amp to clean that up. They really need a good blended pickup/mic system. I was told they tried that many years ago, but it just either didn't work well or sell well. I don't recall which.
