This is a thread about how much we post on this forum and has nothing to do with Guilds or guitars for that matter.
And try as I might, I couldn't find any politics or politically incorrect sexual innuendo either. Not even any politically correct sexual innuendo.

Easy for you to say at 9500 posts.
BTW, careful examination will reveal that this postbot never posted in the post count thread.

Has anybody looked at the percentage of posts relating to guitar related topics versus non guitar related topics?

That, of course is a judgment question. Is, for example, legal protection of intellectual property on topic, off topic, or only of interest to people who write songs or perform, for pay, songs written by others? Do the songs have to be written or performed on a Guild to make the intellectual property discussion relavent?

I guess that at most 30% of my posts are focused, Guild related and on topic, according to the most strict interpretation and anti-veer guidelines. In my case the fastest way to separate the wheat from the chaff would be to focus on posts that relate to Guild basses circa 1964-1977. I think most of us have our own opinions concerning which posters are likely to add to the discussion and which posters don't as well as which veers are acceptable and which are not. Luckily, unless one is a Moderator no one is expected to read or skim every post

I'm of the opinion that while post counts might be interesting, nobody really gets anything out of it, other than some sort of personal pride in being a frequent contributor to the discussions here -- good, bad or otherwise.

The information shared by members is often informative, but also highly entertaining and at times gives us a little glimpse into the personalities and lives of each other, thus strengthing the bonds between the members. I alluded to it in the best guild moments post that it is the interaction with people here that is the highlight for me.

Let me take a moment here to give a shout out once again to frono, Chazmo and the other moderators for keeping the topics in check and within the spirt of the forum. The Club Kiloposter thing was just for fun, like those internet polls that are meant only for entertainment. The most important thing is not how often we post nor always what we post, but that we post, because the interaction and involvement is what sparks the conversations that are at the heart of this or any forum.

You never know what you might learn, even if the conversation veers away from the subject at hand.

As, in your 'name'...inspired from a comedy/musical moment from that iconic Canadian show 'Corner Gas'..tells me at least something about your sense of humor...neighbour! ..and yes the moderators keep us headed down the road and out of the ditch all the while allowing us to enjoy the scenery, no easy task...lots of credit due...this I think is one of the nicest places you can go on the internet, I'm pretty sure it gets mentioned when ever we sell a Guild. I know I share it...without question... regards Steffan

I am, indeed. And with that admission, I'll crank up the Veer Wagon...

Q: How many journalists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: We just report the facts, we don't change them.
or
A: Three. One to report it as an inspired government program to bring light to the people, one to report it as a diabolical government plot to deprive the poor of darkness, and one to win a Pulitzer prize for reporting that Electric Company hired a light bulb assassin to break the bulb in the first place.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

:wink:Very well said there Thunderface, and Zelga, Steffan, and Frono too. Good points and perspectives all around.
For Myself, I could care less about post count, (though I DO enjoy seeing the list grow and change on Club Kiloposter!) Post count just comes as a natural result of being active around here, taking part in the 'fun', and contributing whatever one can or cares to. Still, I would note that some of the great contributers of ideas, and wisdom ( Guitar and otherwise) are relatively low posters, who may not post often but give us allot of insight into matters when they do.
I enjoy a good bit of quality veerage mixed with 'Guild' and 'guitar' facts and figures. I think that a good balance has been struck here, and that is one of the reasons that LTG has always been such a pleasure to visit and participate in.

I guess I would bee a veer-whore then? I'm sure alot of my posts are not guitar related.
As a matter of fact, I'm sure most of them are about chinese food or something else nonsensical and not guitar related.

Ya gotta quit hangin' around with those dang postbots. They spend too much time over on the "Let's Eat GADs" forum. The most common misconception over there is that if it's chinese, it must be edible.
