Anybody else like the puppet shows that they had back in the day? Supercar? Fireball XL-5? Fun stuff!!

Technically not a cartoon, but they were fun. Cap'n Crunch was the BEST, even though it tore up the roof of my mouth because it was SO crunchy!!

One of my favorite old TV shows is UFO. UFO was created by the same people (Gerry and Sylvia Anderson) who created Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds (And the movie Thunderbirds Are GO!). UFO's cancellation would lead to the very popular show Space 1999 (originally named UFO 1999).

One of the most memorable things about UFO was the purple wigs on the woman working on Moonbase and they existed because Sylvia Anderson felt that wigs would likely be part of a woman's uniform in the future (1980). The entire premise of the show was quite a leap for a show made in 1970.

Katy Perry is too young to have watched it, isn't she? The show was clearly ahead of it's time!

Winky Dink (versus Crabby Appleton).
Crabby Appleton was on Tom Terrific--Winky Dink was the show where you had the plastic film that would stick to the TV screen so you could draw on the set with crayons to help the characters. My parents wouldn't get me the necessary item until they found me drawing directly on the TV glass. I was only four, but I knew what I was doing.

Oops! Well, it's been a while. . . .

Yeah, I couldn't get the magic screen either. Wish I'd thought of drawing on the screen!

My parents said I could just use tracking paper. They said Ovaltine was expensive enough without wasting postage getting a sheet of clear plastic to write it on.

Parents are stupid.

Daffy Duck was my clear favorite, but what remains firmly imbedded in my pea brain is Jiminy Cricket’s little tune from the Disney safety films they’d show us in elementary school:

I’m no fool, no siree,
I’m gonna live to be 103.
I play safe for you & me,
Cause I’m, no, fool.

Yup. Good one. I was thinking of getting into Disney features (post 23), but I figured I'd already wasted enough zeros and ones on this one.

Pinocchio was so surrealistic!

Not a waste of zeros and ones at all. Member input makes threads interesting and enjoyable!

I am going to venture to guess that you appreciate a good cartoon, yes?

I have DVD rips of literally every Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoon, and it never gets old. Might be time for a marathon!
We have a lot of old cartoon DVD's as well. I got them when my son was young so that he could see the good stuff. I will say, though, that I enjoyed some of the cartoons that were on TV when he was little.

I remember when I was a kid in the mid 90’s you could still catch old episodes of Looney Toons and Scooby Doo. Rocky and Bullwinkle too if I had the determination to wake up at 6 before the bus took me to school.
