Seems like this is the right spot to post this. Picked up a 1997 Taylor 510 Dread w/ Spruce over Mahogany. Got it in a trade. I don’t normally vibe with the typical Taylor voicing and I wasn’t really setting out to buy a Taylor but with the exception of Guilds, i try to not look at the name on the headstock! What I really like about it thus far is that - like the other Taylor I owned back in the day - this one doesn’t sound like a Taylor (if that makes sense). So it’s the craftsmanship of a Taylor without the typical voicing of a Taylor. Will post pics later if anyone is interested.
Edited to attach some pics - It's pretty clean for a 1997. From what I gather there are a bunch of different 510 wood configurations and even one with a slotted headstock and 12 frets to the body. Apparently, they are no longer in production. I think I jumped at it as I've heard from numerous places that the late 90's were the peak in quality for Taylors (FWIW!) As always, quality of pics demonstrate by dedicated amateur status!
