Following protocol, here is the official NGD announcement: My 1966 Starfire IV has arrived after yet another careful and professional shipping from Treem Corp Ltd. 8)
I was very pleased and impressed with the all original overall condition.
I was very please and even more impressed by the monster tone output by these mini humbies.... they range from a warm vintage growl to a typical HB1 bite, absolutely awesome.
It is going to need a set up and either a neck adjustment or a fret dressing as there is some buzzing high up on the neck, particularly obvious on bends. And I happen to know just the guy to show it to!
Here are a few pics of the ol' lady.....

Thanks DB and Joe, it got even better since the post creation: No more buzz!!! I noticed there was almost no action at all on the high E, B and G strings, so I just gave it some. All it took is a little lift of the bridge on the treble side, thanks to the adjusting screw et voila!
I've been playing it non stop until now, it sounds so good I could cry. How's that for enjoying myself hmm?
I LOVE IT!!!!! (Yes I'm getting a bit hysterical now, let me go lie down)

BP, that is one outstanding sunburst Starfire! I absolutely cannot wait for its introduction to the world on Youtube. I keep trying to type words to describe it and can't. Wonderfully wonderful was attempted, but seemed both clunky and underemphasized at the same time. All I can say is, "WOW!"

And I'll second that shutout to Tristan for all the great work he's been doing lately. A lot of fantastic instruments have been landing in appreciative hands thanks to Treem, including a pair for Treem himself. There's been a lot of this kind of reaction lately from anyone who has directly or indirectly benefitted from Treem's work or inspiration on others who do Treem-like work.

Booty-full! That thing oozes mojo.

How would you compare & contrast the smaller '60s humbuckers to original HB1's?

Thanks for the congrats all!
Dave, the mini HB1's are every bit as great as the big ones, with a delicious "bluesy-jazzy" twist, they have a great sensitivity and a changing voice depending on how hard you play, definitely the best for finger style play IMO.
Steve: Did CJ really let her rip?
Glad you enjoyed our neck of the woods!

Oh God! The fingertapping, the lightning arpeggios, the tasteful blasts of feedback?
I cried myself to sleep in the Hampton Inn.

So funny I forgot to laugh  ............

It's true, the Gibson are both way-back machines. None of that '80s big-hair / tight-pants stuff
