Here is my new 1982 Mark V. It is a gorgeous classical guitar that has been lovingly taken care of for many, many years. It has a warm sound that I never thought would convince me that rosewood is better than mahogany for a classical guitar - but it IS! Wow-wee, it is amazingly rich, full, and has a voice that says, "I'm a contender, Ramirez!" :) The Spanish heel just adds to the overall appearance, charm, and romance...OK, guys, it is so special I had to throw-in the overall subtleties. Playability is outstanding. I just restrung with Sevilla, EMP, medium tension - ball end. For those purists, I chose ball-end because I didn't want to scratch the soundboard restringing with 'regular' classical guitar strings. Mea maxima culpa. By the way, my Mark V is twocorgis' cousin, their S/N's are only four apart. Purdy kewl, huh. 8)

I have a few Thank You's to several LTGers who helped during the journey of acquiring this great guitar. First of all, a big thanks to averya, who was the original owner and took such good care of this Mark V for almost 30 years. Avery, I promise to take very good care of it. Promise. Secondly, silverfox (Tom C.) and twocorgis (Sandy) were so helpful (behind the scene) in counseling both me and Avery. Thanks, Guys, you're the BEST! Treem, thank you for letting me know the Mark V was for sale. And, to all the other LTGers who I did not know were helping...a warm thank you.

I’ve just owned the Mark II for a short-time, but it is for sale (as you can see from my signature). It has been a very, very nice in-the-meantime Guild Mark.

Toni

Nice stripes! Congrats on one beautiful guitar, I'd love to hear that one :D

Aw, c'mon, you need a campfire guitar, don't you? Or would that be your D-25? (I'll be playing my D-25 around a campfire this coming Monday night, unless it rains :D )

Thank you Toni, for the nice words. I am glad you are pleased with the guitar and I know you will take wonderful care of it. AND, you will play it rather than let it sit in it's case like I did. I'm very happy this worked out for both of us. I will surely miss the Mark V, but since selling it I was able to have some work done on my 1950's Gibson and just got it back today. Not half as nice looking as the Mark V, but has a wonderful tone and is very sentimental to me. I plan to start playing again.

Thanks again,
Avery

She is a beauty, reminds me of CD100119 that I had for 29 years, now Sandy is it's keeper.

Tom C.

Indeed I am Tom, and I'm a happy boy. 8)

It also occurred to me that I never posted any pics, though it looks like Toni might have gotten a nicer slab of EIR than we did from your picture (Mark V on left, Mark VI on right)

I'll take it outside tomorrow for some pictures if I can, as it would be an interesting comparison. My Mark V is a remarkable instrument, and I was just playing it and admiring it as well. The build quality is second to none. Hard to imagine Toni's would be any different.

dreadnut,

I think I need a GAD 30 for the campfire, or maybe a fun little GAD M20! Sorta been thinking that lately...

I hope it doesn't rain for your camping trip....but, boy, oh boy, could we use some (LOTS) of rain here in Texas. It’s drier than happy hour at the Betty Ford clinic! Mighty dry...mighty.

Enjoy your camping and playin' your D25,

Toni

Thanks to Everyone for your kind words of congratulations. Very much appreciated.

Hoping it's first jam session will be with fellow LTGer, Scratch (Ken).....Guild & Guild(s) - I think Ken brings more than one to a session (as per his recently posted picture at his recent stage gig)...... 8) posting.php?mode=reply&f=2&t=25741
