Cordoba GK Pro Negra arrived about 11:15 this morning (Sunday) very fast shipping since I ordered it about 4:30 Friday afternoon. Since I haven't touched a guitar in 6-8 weeks due to some health issues, this review will be in two parts. First will be overall impressions and second will be in a few days after I get a little time to get my fingers back in playing shape.
If you've ever ordered a guitar from Sweetwater, you probably know their packing. Double boxed, with the Cordoba box inside the Sweetwater box. Since I still have lifting restrictions from my surgery, my daughter did the unboxing and was grateful there were none of those annoying packing peanuts to stick to everything.
The guitar, as I expected from a higher level Cordoba model, is fine, nice finish, clean interior, smooth neck with no apparent fret problems. I do have a few nits with Cordoba, though. First, no instructions on how to use the in case humidifier. So, had to search to find out. Second. likewise no info about the Fishman Pickup system, again a little internet search, even though it's mostly intuitive. I do wonder as it's called a "stereo" system if it's possible to use a stereo cord and split the mic and pickup into different amps, but I guess they would put that in their on line info if it were.
First impression with just a quick pluck or two, seems to be a little bass heavy, but may just be that I need to spend more time with it. I'll try to spend some quality time with it over the next few days and come up with a part 2.
