For all of you who followed the ups and downs of the original thread...

http://letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22331

...have I got a happy ending for you!

After reading about my plight with the damaged '81 F512, Son Le - known for posting here as fsl009 - offered to sell his brand-new, virtually untouched Hartford F512 for exactly the dealer's-cost price he had paid.

He's even willing to be patient while I wait for my $1,500 to be refunded from Elderly Music!

So, while I've already expressed my gratitude to the members of LTG for their advice, support and sympathy, I really want to thank Son publicly for being such a mensch, and say again how fortunate I feel to have chanced upon this remarkable community.

Things were looking pretty dark as I decided to give up on the damaged F512, and to receive Son's email with his amazingly kind offer, just when it mattered the most... well, this forum is the only place I can think of where there are people who will have a pretty good idea how I felt.

The damaged F512 should arrive at Elderly Monday, and the manager said my debit card would be credited with the refund within 24-48 hours... then it's just a matter of when the bank credits my account. Sleazebags that they are, the banks can float those funds for 7 to 10 business days before they show up in my account again - but as soon as they do, payment goes off to Son, and my new F512 will be on its way to me!

So you can probably guess what I was thankful for this Thanksgiving... I'll post again after the guitar arrives, but in the meanwhile, my sincere thanks to Son, and all the LTG folks who have followed this saga so far. Here's to happy endings!

Son Le helped me buy my NH 512. He's a good guy. His was special ordered without the front strap pin, but I suppose you know that. You're gonna love the new 512. Very light. Better finish than they put on at Westerly. Big tone. Congratulations!

Congratulations, Randy. That's good news that Son Le's new -512 stayed in the family. I'm sure you'll love it.

By the way, Randy, I just took my F-512 out of its case. Man, all it takes is a couple of seconds for me to bond with that axe. Still blows me away.

Yep, of all my guitars, the 512 is the one that never disappoints me, at least so far.
