Sorry about that 2nevets. I received a new D-55 just recently from the factory after some issues with a new one I purchased this past Jan. There was no question on the warranty but it still took six months to get a new one in my hands. 'The squeeky wheel gets the oil!

My '94 Starfire had the exact same issue. Actually had a buyer return it for that reason.

There's no doubt they'll fix it under warranty, but it can be a little slow because the guitar has to go first to an authorized repair station then, most likely, to NH for fixing. I seem to remember that getting a replacement for my new F512 under warranty didn't take too very long, though. About 6 weeks.

Here's a pic of how my red '94 one looked. Guy I bought it from said it had been like that for years, and it played like a dream. I'd love to know what causes it.

That is DEFINITELY a warranty issue. Contact them soonest to protect yourself. Maybe they didn't slather on enough glue :) and there is some movement in the neck joint. Maybe there was a finishing problem. Whatever the cause, it is not normal and is a factory defect, not normal wear.

Hi Tim, it is a GSR series, 18 only build ever. http://www.guildguitars.com/instruments ... 3828000837
Lowest price it was offered by a shop that I have seen was $3199.

First shown at NAMM 2012, if you are interested there are hundreds of posts at LTG already:

All is well here with #15 but keep us updated on your Starfire and what the dealer/service center says. I did note that the heal cap and binding are seprate pieces and I can see where they are joined but nothing like what your photo looks like. Thanks and good luck. John

Those are fairly typical finish cracks. A lot of set neck guitars have them.
I have to respectfully disagree. :? To have those cracks on a new :!: guitar is not normal. Especially on a high end guitar, that is unacceptable and should be fixed under warranty.
