Haven't posted before...figured today was as good a day as any to start. My two main guitars are a 1968 F30 and a 1964 F212. I've been playing for about 50 years now and will say with no fear of contradiction that my F30 is the finest sounding six string I have ever played...or heard for that matter. My F212 has a little custom work with Indian Larry (if you're into motorcycles you know who he is) logo question marks done in black mother of pearl. It's wonderful to see all this interest in these fine instruments.

By the way...just to be a bit heretical, my collection is rounded out by several Gibsons, but nothing touches my F30.

Hi Wayside and welcome to LTG; that's a spectacular pair of '60s Guilds you have there. The Hoboken F30 is highly prized guitar around here. I have a '66 F212 and can only wish it was as mintish as the one in the pic. Congratulations on a stunning pair of legendary Guilds and welcome! CJ

Hi there!
Bragging about your F30 is one thing, but posting a pic, come on now....that was uncalled for!
No but seriously, welcome and send me a PM to let me know what I need to do to get you to ship it over to me.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Truth be told my wonderful 212 is not as minty as she appears in the photo. There is a bit of a belly bulge (owing to her years I find that perfectly acceptable) and a slight wobble around the soundhole. None of the effects her magnificent tone.

Wayside,

Welcome indeed to the LTG - not your average guitar forum. You've passed the initial test by providing pics for us to drool over, now for the second test...

We don't know what that is yet - but we'll think of one. :D

Welcome to the fold. I, too, have a 1964 F-212 that I got new. Out of curiosity, what is your serial number? Mine is 38357. Great sounding guitars for sure.

Brad,

My serial number is 29503...have I had it that long? I bought it in Boston, but it might have been 1963, not 64. Those were college years and you know how those tend to run together.

Nice to see an F-30 with the "GUILD" inlay and the Chesterfield pillar.

Mostly all you see are the gold painted "GUILD". I wonder what year(s) they switched.

Now if I could just find a sunburst one!

Welcome Wayside!

Dreadnut,

I play anything and everything I can...of course the brain/finger connection does have its limits, but whatever moves me at the time. I am strictly a bare fingers player...no picks of any sort. Lately I have been mastering a bit of Chris Smither technique...tendon stretching to say the least.

Guilds,

I had a beauty of a sunburst F20 that I gave to my middle son about a year ago. A great little guitar but a bit on the bright side for me. I didn't play it enough and he always lusted after it, so it's in a good home. He does quite a bit of writing on that axe.

Southern,

Thank you for the welcome. The Gibsons are a 1967 J50, a 1965 B25 and a 1996 J200. As far as my playing days go, they stretch from Cambridge, MA (the old Club 47) out to Berkeley, CA., and even a very short stint in Paris, France (not Texas!). I've had the honor of playing with some incredible musicians. I'm 64 now and started playing when I was around 12...I can't remember a time when I didn't have at least one guitar in my life. From what I can gather here on this board most of you are of the same ilk. It's one of those things classified under, "if you have to explain it to someone, they'll never understand."
