That information comes directly from the official Guild serial number decoder website.

Here is my guitar's information. The label serial number matches the number on the inside neck block of the guitar

The "decoder" gave it a good try. Hans is the final word. He has more Guild documents that anyone on the planet, I would guess.

Thank you! It's a beautiful instrument and sound. Why does the serial decoder say "Production year 1966?"
Welcome.

The decoder says that because it is wrong and the folks who "built" it chose to use widely disseminated, but incorrect information.

Simplistically some of Guild's records are missing and others are incomplete. There are changes or inconsistencies from year to year. There are typos and similar errors in "published" compilations and they get copied from source to source rather than corrected. The most accurate and complete compilation is in Hans Moust's book because he did the research and correlation to find and correct mistakes. But even he notes that he has discovered corrections to what he published.

Welcome to LTG! Wowza, a 1965 Guild, looks like it’s held up well, nice job of keeping it in good condition. (y)
