Hello Gentlemen,

I am newly registered but have been poking around this site for a few years. Long enough to realize that Graham seems like a nice guy and that Coastie just might say anything. I love Guild guitars, like everyone around here, and have a hard time saying "no" to things like F40s and D25Ms. Actually, right now I am overtaken by the desire to own a D50...but that is in the other section.
I play mostly folk with my main outlet being Church and the front porch. If I could, I'd figure out how to post a picture of my dog "Moose" in the avatar. (How do you reduce the pixel size???) He's a good companion and doesn't complain about my music.

I enjoy this site and will chime in when I can...or more like "when I feel qualified to offer an opinion"

The New guy,

Mike

Welcome! Here is a fast way to get an avitar.

http://www.imgur.com browse for the image, click edit checkbox, then upload. One of the resize presets is avitar. Go to the next page and it'll give you the link! Very easy to use for 1-time things like that.

Welcome, Moose Dog. A D-50 will suit you to a T, I'll bet.

Did you know that the Norwegian dog called an "elkhound" over here is actually called an "elge hund" in Norway, and that "elge" means "moose", not "elk". So the Norwegian elkhound is actually the original "Moose Dog"? You might want to to pass on to your hound that he has noble forebears.

Hey Mike, I'm having trouble spreading that word, especially here at home, but thank you and Welcome to LTG.

Please feel free to chime in anywhere on anything even if you know not what you speak. It keeps the others on their toes.

Welcome Moose from another Guild lover, and another dog lover. As to how to size the pic down so it can be an avatar, I think I spend about an hour editing may original pic down 25% at a time or something idiotic like that, until the number of K it took in storage was small enough to be an avatar. I think i used a program called paint, or maybe it was a photo manager. I also barely understand K, so I'm not very knowledgable. As others have noted, that's no obstacle to posting. I'd love to see a pic of your dog.

and maybe your new Guild, too. :)

Welcome Mike (and Moose) ...kick your shoes off, relax your mind...we welcome any thoughts and comments you have...and of course since you've been hanging around for awhile, you know we love visuals! btw, since you like dogs, have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein...nothing to do with Guilds but a great book with Enzo, a dog, as narrator. Ha!

You folks are too nice. With the help of stclrob's link and the patience of my wife...we have conquered the avatar!! Unfortunately, I have little idea of how we just did that. And that realization brings back the soul-damaging pathos of high school algebra. Ah, never mind.

With respect to the picture...can you identify Moose's breed or the guitar behind him?

John...I did not know that about elk hounds. So they tracked moose? Or are they sight hounds? I have always liked Norwegian Elk hounds... as a breed I know that they have very long memories when it comes to who has been naughty and who has been nice. (Story there) I happen to be both a dog lover and a dairy veterinarian, so I get to meet some of the neatest dogs. My first objective on a farm is to develop a good relationship with the dogs that greet the truck. By-the-way, my daughter has been to Norway twice and absolutely loved it.

Joan...No, I actually have never heard of Garth Stein's book, but I am guessing it was pretty good. I have enjoyed some of Gary Paulsons' books about dog sledding. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for all the warm greetings, Mike

Another welcome, Mike & Moose!

I’m a newbie too, but I feel really at home here; this is truly a special place. There’s a wealth of great information and some seriously unique (that’s a good description, right?) characters that make it extraordinary.

Not to mention an awful lot of talent! Listening to “Members Music” sometimes tempts me to take up bagpipes. (Although that thought goes away when I try to picture myself in a kilt).

And it’s already been mentioned – “qualified” doesn’t seem to be a key word around here. Hell, they let me post!

Good luck on your Guild hunt! You won’t have any problem getting GAS support here.

BTW, I do believe it’s time for a Dog Pictures thread – if someone doesn’t start one soon I will.

But, sorry, it’s “Go, Bears, go!”
