Welcome Ian. I'm jealous already. A D-30 is on my wish list. Even "if" they sounded terrible, they're beautiful guitars.

Welcome pardner. Nice git you got there. Is that maple I spy on the back?

Yes it is, laminated back, solid sides, 3 piece neck. Very nicely flamed, the neck is very attractive, really nice pieces of wood.

Beautiful D30.
May I borrow it for a couple years?

Sure, but you'll likely have to leave your D40 with me for the exchange program to work 8)

"it sounds better when my son plays it than when I do"

Ahhh ... but that is the greatest compliment a father can receive when our sons excel us in their abilities. That being said, I've got to watch this guitar like a hawk, my son has already played this guitar more then I have ... haha

did you buy it locally?

No, this is an "ebay" guitar, Tucson AZ to be exact. There was another one out in Calgary, but this one seemed to be in better condition. From my search, these don't seem to come up for sale much in Canada.

Thanks to everyone for their welcome messages. To all my D30 (G37) brethren, a special bond has started

Welcome Ian. Your D-30 is a beauty, maybe too gorgeous to play. Just hang that baby on the wall.......na, play the hell out of it! I see you have an FG375S. I just sold one to go to an FG365S, on it's way to me. Those are nice guitars, uh... um, course not as nice as Guilds. I be from up north too, Ladysmith, BC. Congrats to you.

Ian, Welcome. My D30 (as I always say here) is the best sounding guitar I own. It lives on the stand -- and I never leave for a gig without it. My Gibson J45 (the once main gig guitar) hasn't seen the light of day for months!

Great guitar, great choice!

Hey hojo,

I just checked out your Sound Click page. Excellent music there!!

Thanks, Graham! Most of them there tracks are Guilds!

This does not seem to be a very common model here on LTG, but it has a very nice sound to it, very bright and articulate. Ian K.
Hi Ian, welcome aboard! D30 had relatively low production numbers, so yeah, relatively fewer owners here just by the odds of probability. Also maple in acoustics seems to be a specialized taste. Some guys just don't warm up to it but the guys who do really love it. My personal opinion is: "M-m-m--maple!" (My F65ce is a maple bodied little gem) :D
