Need a case for my D25

I know this may have been asked before and I apologize if I'm being repetitive but I couldn't come up with an accurate enough search. I have a '91 D25 that did not come with a case. It would be nice to have a real Guild case, and Musician's Friend actually sells them, although they're a bit pricey:

So, in theory it should fit, based on the description offered on the web site - but I'm unsure whether the arched back on my guitar would cause a problem with this case. Anyone tried one of these with an arched-back Guild?

I recently bought a newer Guild case for my '87 D-25. I don't think it's the exact case pictured in your link, but it is badged as a Guild and was for a "D" guitar. The D-25 fits, as does the F-212 from long ago.

But wait a bit and watch CL. I picked mine up for $40.

My D25-12 came with this TKL case (mine's black though) and it fits perfectly. It's on the lower end of the TKL line, but it's still nice. I have a nearly new one that you can have for what I have in it. PM me for details; that axe deserves a proper case!

I think that one at musician's friend MUST be a TKL...looks exactly like my D40's case.
But Twocorgi's is probably going to be the best deal if you're not stuck on Original color and logo. TKL WAS (still is?) Guild's OEM supplier.

I should point out that the arch on a D25 ain't really all that deep, and the original case that came with mine is actually flat topped and bottom. With probably about 3/8" of padding plus the lining. So I'd be REALLY surprised if that arch topped case didn't fit. Or twocorgi's case either.
I oughta just see if the '25 fits in the '40's case, but I forgot to check. I'd be amazed if it didn't, but I'll report back tomorrow. :D

I need one too. I'm freaking out with worry that the super dry air in my house will murder it.
I take it in the bathroom with me when I shower for the humidity....tell me I am not mental.

I do that periodically, even though the climate here is pretty favorable year round. Except I leave 'em just outside the door. Don't want 'em getting downright wet with condensation!
I keep mine in their cases at all times until they're played for that little extra protection and atmospheric buffering they give. Keep 'em in a closet to help with temperature stability too.
Standing on end with handles facing out, real easy to get to. :D

I don't know if the arched back D-25 would have issues or not.
MF should be able to tell you or offer a return, if it doesn't fit.
I 'm very impressed with the case.
Someone posted a few weeks ago about getting one of these, and a D35, I think it was, was a pretty snug fit, so I surmised a D25 might be too tight.

I like a snug fit. The case will actually adjust to the guitar in a few weeks. I did this with a Yamaha guitar that I put in an old Guild case. The Yamaha is over 1/2" wider than the Guild was.
It is a great fit now.
The exception would be a hard foam lining like the thermal plastic Martin cases. These cases won't adjust at all.
I would recommend the case that I have for a Dred Guild without hesitation.

Ok, just to reiterate, that case looks EXACTLY like the case that came with my D40, arched top, G-shield logo, and I bet it's got a green lining and leather tag stamped "TKL" attached to the top of the goody box inside the case.
I put my D25 inside my D40 case last night and it works just fine. Nice and snug. No problem with closing it.
Interestingly, the FLAT top case for the '25 DOES have a slight bit of extra padding in the bottom close to the edges but is a little thinner than I remembered. Maybe just compressed over the years? But the padding on the TOP of the D40 case (like the one pictured) is REALLY thick, like a 1/2".
If you really want that logo, I say call 'em and ask if they'll deal on price. Maybe they can also confirm it's a genuinel TKL Guild case. Just to be sure.

I know this is a departure from the subject, but I have a serious low-humidity problem too; I live in Phoenix, where in the summer (until late July anyway) the relative humidity is routinely in single digits, and we don't usually see 40% unless it's raining. Outside of the Sahara, there probably aren't many worse climates in the world for guitars, but I have a couple of ways of dealing with it that work well for me, and you might be interested in giving them a try.

I keep my guitars in my bedroom (at least until my son moves out of my den), and I use a room humidifier with a humidistat to keep the room humidity fairly constant. I use this one, which I bought from Home Depot, and it works great:

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1 ... ogId=10053.

[Edit] Ignore the claim on the Home Depot web site that this is a whole-house humidifier; it'll do the job for a relatively large room quite well, but it won't humidify a whole house unless it's a very small one. [end Edit]

The great thing about this humidifier, at least where I live, is that it works exactly like an evaporative cooler, so it helps cool the room too. I keep the humidistat set at 50%, and it automatically turns itself on and off as necessary to maintain that. There's one crucial point that many people miss - humidity measurement won't be stable without air circulation. I keep a ceiling fan running all the time, and in the winter I set it to draw air upward and set it on low. This setup does the job for me very well, allowing me to keep a couple of guitars out on stands for easy accessibility without drying them out (I rotate through my collection).

For my most expensive acoustic I also use Humidipak in the case, as extra insurance. The science behind it is sound (and familiar to me from lab work I used to do), and since the packs were redesigned they're safe. I also use a different version of Humidipak to take care of cigars, which require much higher humidity, and that works great too.

The point is, although low humidity can be a serious problem, there's no need to stress over it. Neither of my methods is very expensive; I spent $90 on the room humidifier and it doesn't require anything else but water and an occasional cleaning. The Humidipak set costs about $30 and refill packs run about $15 every 3 months. Best of all, I don't have to worry about my precious guitars drying out!

Actually, the dimensions on this appear to be about the closest to my own measurements of my D25 than anything else I've come across. It looks to be just about perfect in every respect but the lower bout width, and even that's only a quarter inch short, so it sounds like it would fit fine.

Some of the reviews on MF make it sound like it's cheaply made, and at least one guy complained about a horrible smell. You said you're impressed with it, but can you comment specifically on the quality and strength?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for checking that out for me! The logo would be nice, but I really can't justify 30% of the guitar's price for a case. MF has dealt on price with me before, though, so I think I'll call and ask, as you suggested. If they won't, TKL or Silver Creek it is.
