I just picked up my 3rd B30/B50 - the previous 2 are gone :)

Very nice B30E in my fave sunburst finish.

However, serial # is AB301457 (Westerly).

All the decoder lists show the latest # as AB301349.

Anyone shed any light on that?

Thanks,

Frank in Toronto

P.S.- I managed to crack the truss rod cover - anyone know where I can get another? I see someone selling aftermarket wood ones for Guild guitars on eBay - would one of those work?

Hello Frank,

That makes it a B-30E from 1999.

I managed to crack the truss rod cover - anyone know where I can get another? I see someone selling aftermarket wood ones for Guild guitars on eBay - would one of those work?

If you want a fancy one, you could buy one of those aftermarket covers, but if you want an original one, just get back with me through my website:

Enjoy your new bass!

Hans - Looking again at the dating charts, wouldn't mine be actually later - 2000 or 2001?

serial # is AB301457 (Westerly).

All the decoder lists show the latest # for 1999 as AB301349.

On westerlyguildguitars.com they say:

"Please note that if your serial number does not fall on the dating charts on this website it was most likely build on or after 1999 until the Westerly shop closed in middle of 2001. "

If it helps mine has a square box cutout for the Fishman preamp controls (bass, treble, mid, brilliance & phase), not the 2 round knobs that my earlier B30E had.

Thanks,
Frank

Take a close look at the charts; they are somewhat confusing. Even though there is a section for the 1997-1999 period, only the beginning and ending numbers for 1997 are in that column. So #AB301349 is the ending number for 1997, not for 1999. Your B-30 was made during 1999.
