Oh Yeah. Joining its 1977 walnut finished Mahogany brother is a 1978 B301-A in just amazing condition. A solid pound of two heavier. This is just an absolute monster of playability and tone. I've currently got flats on the Mahogany so can't really A/B but the ash is bright. I will swap out the flats for some rounds I have around. The grain is just magnificent! Do I need two B301's. Duh.. One is Ash and one is Mahogany. A Mahogany natural was my first bass in 1978 so I clearly have a thing for these. Surprisingly this came from Sweetwater's newish Gear Exchange platform for a reasonable $1139 with free shipping. Might be worth keeping an eye on that platform.

Cool bass, congrats! That's quite a bit of low end goodness with that pair!

Very nice! The single pickup B-301 is a great sounding bass with both the ash and mahogany bodies.

Outstanding! The Ash is gorgeous and the guitar looks mighty clean. Two different woods = two different sounds. No different than me having an F30 in rosewood and mahogany. Congrats! I’ll have to take a look at their platform. I hadn’t heard about it.

Nicely put. I agree! :) I'd never call my Rick 4001 and P-Bass superfluous. I worship them both. But..... they are probably sleeping with one eye open. The B-301 is it's own thing but to those unfamiliar with them they can be described as having the growl of a P-bass and the tang of a Rick available in one package.
