Back about 5 years ago I was collecting pretty much at full throttle mostly oddball forgotten stuff from yesteryear keeping what I felt were keepers such as this 1982 O Hagan guitar that was made in a small shop in a suburb of Minneapolis that ran for roughly 5 years with the idea of producing a guitar in America for a reasonable price. Now this guitar is oddball in spec with a German carve and everything wooden on this guitar is maple. Fretboard, neck in a true 3 piece neck thru construction that’s a 25” scale like some PRS and body wings all maple which I suppose made it a product of its time when the theory was the heavier the guitar the more sustain it had. Hardware is Schaller made and the stock pickups were also Schaller but for whatever reason I had the wild idea of replacing the stock Schaller humbucker with a Seymour Duncan Firebird pickup which worked out well so I left it. The fretboard has a super thin finish that I suspect is oil which as worn away a bit to a very comfortable playing surface that rivals ebony at times IMO. I since replace the pots with Bourns pots as the cheap ones that came stock on the guitar for some reason went out one by one. Other than that the guitar has served me well and it’s a great player.
