Then there's also the Grand Tetons.

from Wikipedia:

"The origin of the current name is controversial. The most common explanation is that "Grand Teton" means "large teat" in French, named by either French-Canadian or Iroquois members of an expedition led by Donald McKenzie of the North West Company.[5] However, other historians disagree, and claim that the mountain was named after the Teton Sioux tribe of Native Americans.[6]"

A range is acceptable. However I have Rand-McNally on the phone....we'll just see about that!
Mt. Everest....Chomolungma: Goddess mother of the world.
Can't argue with the locals. :wink:Joe

When you're right you're right.

I always thought it was named after a surveyor named Everest, after a quick Google check, unknowingly the guy who named it Everest didn't know it had been called Chomolungma for centuries by the Tibetans. Obviously a schmuck like me!

I apologize profusely for ever doubting your world knowledge. I'm probably not even worthy of ever again posting on your threads. I hang my head in shame.

Mt Baker is spectacular for sure. My inlaws used to look out at it from their home in Pt Ludlow, WA.

But I'd offer that Neil Young's new next door neighbor is even more spectacular. Since she loves horses, she talked Neil into selling her the part of his ranch that had his famous recording barn on it.

I've seen her shopping at the local Safeway grocery store several times. You've seen her in the movies and her name is Michelle:

She looks even better in person.
