I was standing in a GC looking around when one of the salesman walked up with a guitar he had just bought off someone who had walked in. I saw the price before I saw the guitar. The tag whizzed past me as he handed it to me. $450. A pristine DCE-1. I took it. Played it and it just glowed. I know it's the bottom end of the AEs but what a wonderful sound. I don't know what you all think about when you look at them after playing them but this is my first and not my last. It is a blessing.

Congrats, Ted.

Welcome to the Guild fold! And, I can almost guarantee you that if you hang around here a while, you will be right... It won't be your last. :)

Welcome Ted.
Great story and proof positive that you're a goner.... and that's OK here because we're all goners, so join the crowd. Case in point, I just picked up a new (older) Guild on Tuesday and now I'm considering another one on Thursday! Typical GAS attack.

Enjoy,
Joe

Congratulations on your DCE-1, and on your epiphany that Guild is the best sounding, best built, and most beautiful bang for your buck. A word of warning though, they tend to be addicting. "You just can’t stop at one", as the old chip commercial use to say. I can’t wait to see it. That’s a hint Ted. A hint for a photo for your new Guild. For crying out loud Ted…throw us a bone! I mean…some of us haven’t bought a new guitar for weeks and are going through withdrawal!

Just pulling your leg a little bit.

But seriously, if you get a chance and are inclined to do so, post a pic of your new acquisition. We’d love to see it. And again, welcome.

You see what happens..........first you try buy only with a weekday beginning with a T.........watch this man........I'm thinking he's heading for the slippery slope of only buying Guilds on names of the week that end with 'day'.    Steffan

Welcome to LTG Ted. Kick your shoes off, relax your mind.

I was quite happy with my two Guilds for decades...then I joined this forum. Last year I added the Guild GAD 30R and now I'm waiting for a 1965 Guild M-20. I'm sure there are many here who feel I'm a slow learner but I am making progress!

All of that is to say, you are absolutely right, it's your first Guild, and a fine start it is. Extra credit for that GC rescue! Joan

Okay. I have the DCE-1. I also have a D 212 from 1982 now and I am LUSTING after a 1964 Hoboken F20. But at 1500 bucks it ain't gonna happen unless I win the lotto. I can't believe how it sounded.

I spent the morning playing Ventura highway on my singer's Guild D25.

You are definitely in the right place.
