Just got my first Bluesbird a couple of weeks ago. I have wanted one since high school but never had the $$. Fast forward 12 years and I found one "used" at a local mom n pop guitar store. I wound up picking it and a Guil D 50 NT for $1500.00 out the door. I am super excited but was wondering when these were made. The Bluesbird is serial # CL009894 and the D 50 is #151137. Any insight you guys can give would be great.

Good thing you said "first," as in there'll be more. Gabba gabba we accept you one of us.

Don't know about the BB, but the D50 is a '77.

You got both for $1500 at a shop? Score!

Hello loneguitar,

Welcome! The serial number of your Bluesbird, # CL009894, should not exist.
Or, it is a mistake or the serial number is hard to read and it should be # CL000894.
If it is indeed # CL000894 it means your Bluesbird was made during 1997.

Maybe you should have another look!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

My mistake is is CL 000894. Thanks for the info. That would make it a pre-Fender correct?

That would be after FMIC bought them but before the move to Corona, CA. That is, Guild was still in Rhode Island in '97.
