After 6 weeks I got my '67 D40 back.
1) Neck re-set
2) Cracks repaired
3) New strings
4) And after being featured in a magazine,I was advised to forego any electronics install,
so as not to depreciate the value of this all original instrument. I agreed.
Joe Riggio,of Guitar Service Repair,Tacoma, told me this would quickly become my 'favorite acoustic'.
He stated that its' current sound/playability is only something that a vintage Guild could produce.
Within the first few minutes I understood what he meant.
It is easily the best guitar I have ever played...sound,playability,tone,responsiveness,
"I am baffled as to HOW a guitar can leave home sounding so sad and come back feeling soooooo blue !
It just cries out to me every time I walk into the living room and glance up at the wall where it rests...
" Ooooh,play me please, Mr. Smith,please ! "
