It is a Hofner 500/7 and probably a little earlier than that; more like '62 or '63.

Scale length is 30" and spot checking dimensions make it similar in size to a Starfire bass. So you are reacting to a difference in proportions or the fact that Pauline Moran is 5'7" I'd venture.

That bass neck looks very long in her hands. Just a visual thing. Not sure if it's because of the design of that particular bass or because Pauline is 5'7"
